This is where the war against Galbatorix and his empire really begins. The past two books have been building to this moment. — This is 100% my favorite book in the series.
After the slow-burn feel of the second book, this one jumps into the action right away. Eragon and Roran are reunited and working as a team and Roran continues to prove that although he is only a mere mortal, he is capable of seemingly impossible feats — without wielding magic of his own.
We get to see Eragon’s and Arya’s relationship start to shift. Eragon learning to appreciate and even come to respect the Urgals, and him and Saphira utilizing for the first time many of their new skills acquired in the elven training.
We get to see various characters point of views, thoughts and emotions, with more point-of-view chapters than ever before. Story lines that were set up in the air start beautifully piecing together, and we get a little insight into the mysterious magic of spirits…
Roran’s point of view chapters are absolutely insane and I loved reading his part in the story. He’s such a unique and interesting character. Probably more interesting than Eragon if I’m being honest. The only thing I didn’t like about Roran’s chapters were the love story between him and Katrina. I just didn’t really buy into the love that much. We don’t really know…
